In November, I was invited to give a lecture to the Design MA students about my work as an artist and current PhD study. Part of the session focussed on watching how the students managed and manipulated clay, a material that I had chosen to work with to explore form and haptic impressions. It was fascinating to watch how they used it for the first time. They were much more adventurous than I was because I have experienced the material before and have a tacit understanding of how it works (or doesn’t).
