Large 3D Printing

This week I experimented with printing a ‘Collision’ on a much larger scale. Initially a test to see how the troublesome Bertha would manage with a complex organic form, but also nice to see something larger and more tangible than what I have been printing so far. The quality was brilliant apart from a few areas where the support structure was not adequate enough or the infill had been reduced too much Resulting in gaps in certain surfaces.

The collision concept is where at least 2 VR sculpted forms are brought together to create another. Sculpture made from pre-existing components. These can be manipulated on screen before being sent to print. The work this produces resembles the glitchy style or Cragg‘s large pieces at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
